Description

Experienced storyteller/musician illuminates Texas history through lesser-known stories and tales. Covering the early days of Texas through the war for Texas independence, This program presents tales of treasure, Texas heroes, and the state’s many rivers. May also be presented with a tie-in to US History. Interactive storytelling and music with 5-string banjo. (The cowboys' first musical instrument.)

Students Will

  • learn about lesser know elements of Texas' varied and unique past while reinforcing basic story elements such as plot and character.
  • learn fact and traditions of other culutres and discover similarities of other cultures to their own.
  • learn character, setting and plot development.
  • learn audience etiquette and listening skills.
  • participate in storytelling and sing alongs.

School Fee: $325 for up to 100 students (50 students per performance)

Technical Needs: Please designate a person in your school as the primary contact on the day of the program to facilitate artist needsStage area to be swept and cleared of all risers, desks, tables, etc. before artists arrival. Off stage areas must be clear.

Deadline: Minumum of three weeks prior to requested performance date.
Cancellation Policy: A program is confirmed when you receive your contract by mail, fax, or email. Should illness, inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances prevent the program taking place as scheduled, Young Audiences will offer the option of rescheduling or using a substitute artist. Programs canceled by a school or community presenter after confirmation are subject to full payment. A $25 rescheduling fee will be charged if a schedule change is requested after a program has been confirmed.
After School Policy: A teacher or afterschool employee must remain with class at all times.
