Formats

Grades

Description

Combine traditional visual arts—painting, drawing, collage—with digital technologies to extend the curriculum and deepen learning. Students work with scriptwriters, actors, visual artists, photographers, and video editors to combine classroom studies with expressive language and dramatic images and produce curriculum-based Web and mobile movies, e-magazines, and blogs that inform their peers and stimulate critical analysis and “accountable” discussion. Students can document science experiments; produce a travelogue about the solar system like “Holiday on Mars”; or create an infomercial like "From Tea to Tennis Shoes" about Marco Polo's opening of the China trade. Groups of 3 students do research online and write a script for a 3-minute movie or e-Magazine. They illustrate their movies with original art, digital photos, and Internet images manipulated in PhotoShop, record voice-over narratives, and launch their product on the Web or mobile phone. Visit www.thecamproject.org to view curriculum ideas and student movies. Requires principal’s approval and placement on school calendar.

  • perform focused research online on reliable Websites and write a script
  • export media product to the school's "channel" on the CAMP Website
